Shining Houses

1. Present progressive

2. The story is centred around Mary.  This approach is used too capture both sides of the story as Mary is the only person to actually talked to Mrs. Fullerton.  This allows us to create our own biases based on our morals and what we deem to be the most just action.

3. The title of the story "Shining Houses" is indeed an irony because yes, the houses may be very large elegant and beautiful, but the people inside are often mean, scheming, terrible people.

4. The law, is fair enough.  She had warning and built her house there anyways.  however when the house was built, there wasn't really any worry about a highway being built through it.  Now that shes lived there her entire life, they want to take away her property for the highway. She would be devastated and it would ruin her life if she lost her only home in the last 5 or 6 decades.

5. Mary is sympathetic, forgiving, smart, outspoken, understanding and kind.
